Something Borrowed (2011) Review
Release Date - 06 May, 2011 -
Casts : Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson and Colin Egglesfield
Based on a novel written by Emily Griffin, Something Borrowed stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson and John Krasinski. Rachel, played by Goodwin is an attorney in New York and is a 30 year old single woman. However, during her 30th birthday, the perpetually good girl ends up in bed with her crush since law school, Dex played by Colin Egglesfield. The problem is that Dex is going to get married with her best friend, Darcy (Kate Hudson). Unexpected twists and turns and revelations will come forth as they all search for their true love.
From that synopsis, the story may prove to be a typical Hollywood romantic fantasy-comedy movie. The girl is in love with a guy who's engaged with her best friend then the guy finds out that he also feels the same and they end up together – really common. However, the cast and the people working behind the camera have promised that Something Borrowed will bring something new to the table.
Most of the fans of the novel will surely want to watch the film though the changes made in the movie adaptation will make them more curious than ever. One of the best features of a romance flick is that most people, particularly women, will be able to relate to it. This is what Something Borrowed is about.
It gives focus on various aspects of life including two of the most important ones: friendship and love. Something Borrowed successfully tackles what women in their thirties go through when they are still unhappily single at that point in their life. The realistic storyline and witty dialogues of the characters make the movie really interesting even for those that already know what will happen based upon the novel.
This movie is a must-seen chick flick that you can watch with your best friend, mother and sister. Though most guys will not enjoy this as much, this is really something to look forward to this year.
